Veteran coach Tony Roche has invited fellow Aussie Bernard Tomic to join his training camp at Lleyton Hewitt's Sydney home, The Age reports.

The 21-year-old Tomic is currently without a coach on tour, as his father and coach, John, has been banned for a year due to his assault on Bernard's hitting partner. Roche has coached a number of standout players, including Ivan Lendl, Roger Federer, and Hewitt. He recently spoke to John Tomic about the possibility.

''I just offered that if he was stuck [for a coach], he was very welcome with us up here,'' Roche said. ''I know they've just relocated to Melbourne, and obviously they've got very good facilities down there, but he can come up here any time. To me he's a big-match player and he likes that stage, and you can't coach that—you've either got that or you haven't, and he's lucky that he's got that."

Tomic ended the year ranked No. 51, well off his career-high rank of No. 27 in the summer of 2012. He has talked about hiring another traveling coach but has yet to do so. Australian Davis Cup captain Patrick Rafter and Tennis Australia coach Josh Eagle have advised him at times.

''It's very important for him to get the right [coach], but if he doesn't come up with somebody during this Australian season that Pat and Josh and Lleyton and myself are all there to help him, and it'd be good if he could feel like he's in the Davis Cup environment,” Roche said. “I'd like to see him use us to help him through this period until he gets somebody.''

The 68-year-old Roche said recent pictures of Tomic shirtless at a Gold Coast nightclub didn’t bother him.

''Oh, well, that's a 21-year-old. We've probably all been there and done that,'' he said.
